I bought a copy of WoW. I didn't even play it through my entire trial period. For me to spend $50 on a game and not play it... that takes a lot. I'm a tight wad like that.

I'm sure it's a good game, but I just couldn't handle it. I don't have a distaste for that genre of game. In fact, I spent the greater part of my college years playing Everquest. Loved every moment of it.

With that being said, I found the episode of South Park hilarious. I don't necessarily think they sold out to WoW. I think they accurately depicted the sad downward spiral that an MMO addict's life takes. They just used WoW because it's by far the most widely played right now.

Man, my downward spiral was fun. I wish I could do it again. Hah.

Did you yell at the tv screen while you were watching that episode of South Park like you do when you play Guitar Hero? :P

I have to say, I too am perplexed by people that spend countless hours of their life in a virtual world, when the real one is infinitely more interesting, and infinitely more dynamic than any pretend one could ever hope to be.

However, I have a couple very good friends here in Baton Rouge that play WoW. A lot of WoW. I've never played the game at all. The closest I've come is watching someone play it. I have to admit the graphics are awesome though. And it is funny watching them /dance.

I don't play many RPGs anymore, mainly because I haven't found one that I feel like I can get really engrossed in, but also because I don't haved the time for them. I feel like they eat up what little valuable time I do have left on this Earth. That feeling extends to everything I do though. I spend way too much time thinking about how much time xxx activity will take, and if it's worth it or not. I constantly think "Is it worth it to wash my car REALLY good, or just do a half-ass job? Whether I remove every trace of dirt or just give it a quick wash, it will get dirty again in just as much time."

This line of reasoning sucks, because I want to do a good job at everything I take on, be it writing a web app or washing my car. It's cliched, but true: anything worth doing is worth doing well.
